Walkers for Jenny's Place

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—A group of sixteen women including Sharon Cameron and Donna George of Maitland are walking for a better tomorrow. The team leaves next week for a 125 km trek through the Flinders Ranges in South Australia, to raise money for women and men who are escaping Domestic Violence. The team has raised $108,000 so far for Jenny's Place and are confident of reaching their goal of $120,000. The 125 km trek along the Heysen Trail will see the group walking for nine hours each day and sleeping under the stars each night. Donna has already led 10 other hikes for Jenny's Place. One of these walks was the Kokoda Trek in Papua New Guinea where she broke her wrist 2 days in and yet still went on to complete it. Another hike was up Mount Kilimanjaro which was very difficult because of altitude sickness. The group leave on Monday, 24 June, and begin their journey the next day. The women have been in training for a year. Goodluck Sharon and Donna and all the team and thank you for your support of Jenny's Place.
