Sister Kay Carmody

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—I congratulate Sister Kay Carmody who recently retired from Terry White Chemmart in Rutherford after over 30 years of nurturing thousands of mothers and babies. Sister Kay has been at her role so long that some of the babies she supported early in her career, also received her support as mothers with their own babies later in her career! During this time Sister Kay, a Trescillion nurse, also served for 22 years at GP Access at Maitland Hospital. Her roles saw her regularly consulting with families, especially those whose babies range in age from 0-6 years old, checking weight gain, immunisations, help with feeding and sleep issues. Sister Kay started her nursing training in Sydney in 1973, then went on to work in the labour ward at Newcastle Western Suburbs Hospital as a midwife. Over the years Sister Kay maintained the same passion for helping mums and bubs that she had when she first started. Sister Kay says she just loved the feeling of being able to help people and that babies are just wonderful. Her retirement will be felt by many families in the Rutherford area. Thank you for your service, Sister Kay Carmody.
