Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise & Rotary Club of East Maitland

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Each year in May we recognise volunteers across Australia for the contribution they make to their local communities. This year the NSW Food Authority celebrated volunteers across the state who are foodie service volunteers. The volunteers who cook the BBQ at our local sporting and community events. The authority singled out the Rotary Club of East Maitland and the Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise for recognition. As part of the club members volunteering, they are required to undertake food handler training. Recently 20 Rotary Club members undertook training from the NSW Food Authority in order to safely operate their catering vans. The clubs run catering vans to assist local sporting groups and schools who need canteen support at their events. The Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise also use their vans to feed the needy and homeless. Thank you to the Rotary club volunteers for their dedication to safely feeding our community.
