Mitchell Lightfoot

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Roads, and Minister for Regional Transport)—Congratulations to former Maitland High School student, Mitchell Lightfoot, on his historic victory in the Men's 110 m hurdles at the 2025 Australian Athletics Championships in Perth recently. Mitchell, a member of the Maitland Senior Athletics Club, won gold in 13.65 seconds in a thrilling final. This triumph reaffirms Mitchell's place among Australia's elite hurdlers and underscores the strong athlete development within our Hunter community. The win follows a standout performance at the NSW Country Championships in Maitland at the start of the year, where he posted a 13.52-second run—making him the fourth fastest Australian junior in history. In addition to his national open title, Mitchell's achievements include a fourth-place finish in the 110m hurdles at the 2022 World Under-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia, showcasing his international potential. I commend Mitchell on his win and wish him well at his next meet.
