Maitland Sportsperson of the Year 2025 Bronte Peel
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Congratulations Bronte Peel on being named Maitland's Sportsperson of the Year at the 2025 Australia Day Awards. The 2024 season was an outstanding one for Bronte, receiving the NNSW Emily von Egmond medal for the Player of the Year, winning the Golden Boot award and the Players' Player award and as such Bronte is deserving recipient of this prestigious honour. Bronte's hard work, perseverance, and passion for football have seen her excel at a high level, which highlights the strength of local sporting programs that continue to nurture and support exceptional athletes. Bronte, a Greta-Branxton Wildcats junior has played with the Newcastle Emerging Jets, spent a season in the USA College system playing for the Little Rock Trojans and the last local seasons up front for Maitland FC. Bronte's success is a source of immense pride for Maitland, and I have no doubt she will continue to achieve great things as she joins Melbourne Club Heidelberg. On behalf of the community, I congratulate Bronte on this well-earned recognition and thank her for her contribution to Maitland FC and Maitland sport.
