Maitland Senior and Little Athletics Club
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—I congratulate the athletes of Maitland Senior & Little Athletics Club for their outstanding achievements at the 2025 NSW Country Championships, held at their home track, the Maitland Regional Athletics Centre. Competing against 85 clubs, Maitland finished an impressive fourth in the overall club points tally—a testament to the dedication, hard work, and talent of the 62 athletes who proudly represented their community. Despite battling strong winds, heavy rain, and humidity, these athletes delivered incredible performances, securing 17 gold, 15 silver, and 17 bronze medals across a range of events. Special recognition goes to Zachary West for his triple gold in the U‑14 800m, 1500m, and 3000m, and Jaylah Widders, who claimed gold in the 10 years girls 200m alongside silver in the 100m and 400m. Maitland's relay teams also shone, with the U-12 girls, U-12 boys, and U-16 boys all securing gold medals. This event showcased the exceptional talent within our region, and I commend these athletes, their coaches, families, and volunteers for their dedication to athletics. Maitland's sporting future is incredibly bright!
