LYN DARK MAITLAND LOCAL WOMAN OF THE YEAR
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Lyn Dark has made a very significant contribution she has made to our community since she moved to Maitland over 45 years ago. Lyn has been an active and hardworking volunteer through her numerous activities with local schools, St John's Ambulance Australia, NSW Cancer Council, Maitland Hospital, Neighbourhood Watch, and Rutherford Lioness Club over many decades. Most recently, Lyn was instrumental in getting the West Maitland Centennial Lions Club up and running. Lyn continues to make a tremendous contribution to the Maitland Community through various fundraising activities, ensuring those who are doing it tough can access supports such as Dignity Packs and Back to School packs when they need it most. Lyn has an unflagging passion to make our region a better place and is relentless in helping others. In the face of significant personal challenges, including her husband Graham suffering from cancer for some 30 years, Lyn has continued to ensure that both she and Graham can play a vital role in so many community groups. I am so inspired by Lyn's enormous contribution and was delighted to award her as Maitland's Local Woman of the Year 2023 on 8 March.
