June Campbell
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Roads, and Minister for Regional Transport)—Congratulations to Maitland resident June Campbell who was honoured on March 8th for her exceptional community service spanning over four decades. Ms. Campbell, 78 has dedicated herself to improving our community through her work with Maitland Meals on Wheels, the Hospital Auxiliary and as founding member of the East Maitland Historical Society. Her tireless efforts have directly impacted thousands of residents across our electorate. The ceremony highlighted her instrumental role in preserving local heritage through the documentation of Maitland's historical buildings and establishment of the community archive that now bears her name. Council representatives, community organisations and three generations of Campbell's family attended the event where she was presented with the Distinguished Community Service Medal. In her characteristically modest fashion, Ms Campbell acknowledged that her achievements were only possible through collaboration with dedicated volunteers and supportive community members. This recognition coincided with International Women's Day, making it a fitting tribute to a woman whose practical approach to community service has created lasting change in Maitland.
