JOHNNY ROBINSON

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Woodberry Indigenous artist Johnny Robinson is certainly leaving his mark in our community. Johnny's murals, sculptures and artworks are prominently displayed throughout the Maitland community and showcase his passion for telling stories through art. Johnny's other passion has been to work with young people in Maitland. His work with schools across Maitland includes facilitating art and didgeridoo workshops, creating school murals and producing art installations. Johnny has worked with students at Woodberry Public School, Francis Greenway High School, Maitland High School, Singleton High School, and many pre-schools. Currently Johnny is working with students at Hunter Valley Grammar School. Johnny and his didgeridoo have also played a prominent part in Maitland community events and fundraisers over the last 15 years. Johnny has featured in countless NAIDOC Week events, Corrobborees, movie nights, and The Maitland River Lights Festival. His murals are on display at Huntlee, Kotara and Greenhills shopping centres. They also feature on Aurizon trains and recently Johnny's art was used on the NRL St. George Illawarra Dragons Jersey for the Indigenous round. I would like to acknowledge Johnny for his generous spirit in sharing his culture, art and music.
