Graham Dark OAM
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Congratulations to Graham Dark OAM on his Life Membership of the Australian Labor Party (NSW Branch). Over 40 years as a Labor Member, Graham Dark OAM has contributed to around 25 diverse community groups in leadership positions, including as a Councillor on Maitland City Council from 2000 to 2008. Graham has helped these groups manage major changes in volunteering over 40 years and even established a number of groups from scratch. Graham started at the Scout Association of Australia, as a Cub Scout Leader in 1982, before becoming President of Maitland District in 2006. Graham has been actively involved in several other community groups, particularly through volunteering as a Justice of the Peace, a Foundation and Charter Member of the West Maitland Centennial Lions Club, the Maitland & District Historical Society, Foundation Member of the Telarah Croquet Club, and his advocacy for Cancer patients. Living with cancer for over 30 years Graham has been an inspirational advocate and tirelessly fundraiser for the Leukaemia Foundation and Cancer Council. Graham's advocacy and community work lives the Australian Labor Party values. He is a true inspiration and mentor to the wider community. Congratulations Graham.
