Georgie Winchester
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—2024 has been a huge year for Maitland singer-songwriter Georgie Winchester. Off the back of releasing her debut album in 2023, Georgie embarked on a 60-plus date national tour, culminating in the 'Pretty Things Fest' in Newcastle earlier this month. At the festival Georgie held an EP launch party which raised funds for Women's Legal Service, a specialist legal service providing advice and guidance to women across Maitland, and NSW. Georgie was a 2024 recipient of the Australian Independent Records Association 'Women in Music' mentorship program, and is also the current artist-in-residence at the Newcastle Lighthouse. Georgie was showcased at the 2024 International Folk Alliance in Kansas City in March. Georgie also collaborated with Joel Leggett and local DJ Just a Gent on their newly released single 'Senseless'. I congratulate Georgie on an amazing year in 2024. I look forward to continuing to follow Georgie in 2025 as she attends the International Folk Alliance in Canada early next year and release her second album around the same time.
