Gemalla de Beuzeville-Howarth
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Roads, and Minister for Regional Transport)—Congratulations to Gemalla de Beuzeville-Howarth, who was announced as Maitland's 2025 Young Woman of the Year by the Hunter River Agricultural & Horticultural Association at the Maitland Show. It was an honour to be there on the night to see Caoilfhionn "Caylin" King hand over the sash to Gemalla, a powerful moment of young women celebrating and supporting each other in our community. Gemalla is an accomplished young woman, a freight train driver, a postgraduate student, and a passionate historical dressmaker. Her talents span technical expertise, academic pursuit and creative expression. Gemalla is also deeply committed to preserving our region's rich rail heritage through her work with heritage locomotives like the 5917 "The Picnic Train" in Paterson, and proudly serves as a Second Person, someone who assists the train driver, with Sydney Rail Services. A former Rotary Youth Exchange student, Gemalla continues to give back to her community in many ways. She is a shining example of leadership, service, and passion. Congratulations Gemalla on this well-deserved honour.
