Darren Farrelly
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Darren Farrelly, was a much-loved member of the Maitland community, known for his larrikin spirit and generous heart. Darren left an enduring impact not only on those who knew him personally but also through the business he built—Farrelly Construction Services [FCS]. At the age of 15 Darren began his career as a boilermaker, securing an apprenticeship at BHP Newcastle. Years later, he would become a mentor to many in the industry, known for his ability to lead, support, and uplift those around him. His passion for his work was only matched by his deep care for people, always championing the underdog and forging strong relationships through trust and integrity. Though Darren lost his battle with melanoma in 2023, his vision continues to thrive. FCS recently moved into a brand‑new, purpose-built facility in Rutherford—a dream Darren had been working towards before his passing. His life partner Sheree Dalton, his daughters Sydnee and Paige, and his family and colleagues are ensuring that his legacy endures, with FCS continuing to provide opportunities and stability to workers across NSW and Queensland. Darren's impact will never be forgotten. His generosity, resilience, and vision will inspire many for years to come.
