Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland)—I congratulate Lower Hunter's Peter Hord on his four decades of service with the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS). He started with the West Pennant Hills Brigade in 1979, later joining Louth Park in 1994, which later became East Maitland in 2015. Peter has held the roles of equipment officer, permit issuing officer, training officer and secretary, the rank of Captain for 7 years (2008-2014) and Senior Deputy Captain for 5 years (2002-2007). He is currently the East Maitland Brigade president, membership officer and now a Deputy Captain. Peter has always been an advocate for community education events, delivering fire safety lessons at schools or displays at local shows, and fundraising throughout the NSW RFS. He's been instrumental in starting the process of gaining funding and approvals for major extensions to the station, too. In 2009, in recognition of his commitment to the brigade, he was awarded Life Membership of Louth Park. Peter's a worthy recipient of the National Medal 2nd Clasp and Long Service 3rd Clasp. Congratulations and thank you for your service Peter.
