09 June 2022

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland)—David Jerrett is a worthy recipient of the NSW Rural Fire Service [NSW RFS] National Medal following 19 years of service. He joined the Dungog Brigade in 2002 before transferring to Louth Park, which later became known as the East Maitland Brigade. David has held the roles of permit issuing officer, brigade training officer and the rank of Deputy Captain, Senior Deputy Captain and Captain. Over the years, he's had many opportunities to assist the community and the NSW RFS. This has included operational incidents within the Lower Hunter District as well as neighbouring areas, across the state and interstate as a firefighter, strike team leader, in divisional commander and logistical positions. David was also a member of the Lower Hunter BA/ASF Instructor Group as well as the State Structural Fire Instructor Group. In 2020, he was voted in as Deputy Group Officer for Group 7. I congratulate David on his latest honour.
