Boeing-Led STEM

Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Regional Transport and Roads)—Congratulations to Maitland Grossmann High School students for their enthusiastic participation in the Boeing-led STEM workshops on September 24, 2024. These engaging sessions provided Year 7 to 10 students with valuable hands‑on experience in aerospace engineering and sustainability. Under the guidance of Boeing engineers from the Williamtown facility, students designed and built model Mars landers and sustainable aircraft, putting their classroom knowledge into practice. The workshops culminated in exciting testing sessions, with Mars landers being dropped onto a topographical map and model aircraft taking flight. This practical application of STEM concepts not only sparked students' interest in space exploration and sustainable aviation but also highlighted potential career paths in these fields. Special recognition goes to Shane Dryden, STEM Project Officer for the Hunter Academy of STEM Excellence, for facilitating this valuable partnership between Boeing and Maitland Grossmann High School. These initiatives play a crucial role in connecting classroom learning to real-world applications and future careers in STEM. Congratulations to all participants for their innovative designs and presentations. Your enthusiasm and creativity demonstrate the bright future of STEM in the Maitland community.
