Bikers Against Child Abuse Ride for Kids
Ms JENNY AITCHISON (Maitland—Minister for Roads, and Minister for Regional Transport)—The Newcastle Chapter of BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse) recently routed their awareness and fundraising ride through the Maitland Electorate. This chapter, one of nine across Australia and New Zealand, is also part of a global network across Europe and North America. Their mission is to provide vital support to children who've experienced abuse. Referrals to the organisation come via police, courts, government agencies, counsellors, or other trusted sources. When a child is introduced to BACA, the entire chapter turns out to welcome them. Each child is given a vest, a chosen road name, a teddy bear, activity materials, and two dedicated contacts they can reach at any hour. Currently, the Newcastle Chapter supports many children across the Hunter Valley and holds regular awareness events to ensure ongoing visibility and care. BACA sends a clear message to anyone connected to an abused child: this child is now part of our family. The group offers unwavering emotional and physical support — and a powerful presence. Thank you to the Bikers Against Child Abuse for their courage, dedication, and selfless commitment to protecting vulnerable children.
