Media Release - Shining a Light on our Hidden Treasures

29 May 2019

Jenny Aitchison MP has put a call out to the people of Maitland asking them to nominate worthy women for the 2019 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll.
The Hidden Treasures Honour Roll is an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contributions made by female volunteers across rural and regional NSW.
Last year, there were a number of nominees on the Hidden Treasures Honour Roll from the Maitland community, including Dawn Vallance, Christine Ostermann, June Gardner and Margaret Harvey.
“Every day I am inspired by the achievements of Maitland women and the enormous difference they make in our community,” Ms Aitchison said.
“The theme of this year’s National Volunteer Week was ‘Making a world of difference’. That could not be more apt – it’s exactly what these incredible women do.”
Ms Aitchison believes there are many Maitland women who deserve recognition and thanks, and is encouraging individuals, organisations and businesses to make the most of this opportunity to ensure our selfless volunteers know how much they are valued.
“It might be a friend, family member, colleague or community worker,” Ms Aitchison. “It can be any rural or regional woman that you believe makes Maitland a better place to live.”
Nominations for the 2019 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll are open until August 2nd, 2019. To nominate a Hidden Treasures volunteer, download this form or apply online.
All nominees will be included in the 2019 Hidden Treasures Honour Roll, which will be launched at the NSW Rural Women’s Gathering, to be held between November 1 and 3 in Walcha, NSW.
