Member for Maitland and Shadow Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, Jenny Aitchison, has again pledged her support for Share the Dignity’s Christmas campaign ‘#ItsintheBag’ and has registered as a collection point for donations.
The ‘#ItsintheBag’ Share the Dignity initiative encourages people to donate old handbags in reasonable condition with sanitary, beauty and/or hygiene products to be handed out as a special gift to women in need over the Christmas period.
The campaign brings awareness to the practical everyday obstacles displaced and homeless women face and runs from 18 November until 2 December however, the office is open to collections now.
Maitland residents encouraged to drop off their donations through the coming weeks. Ms Aitchison’s office is located at 34 Church Street, Maitland and is open to the public Monday thru Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
