The outstanding contribution women make to our community will again be recognised and celebrated by the annual Women of the Year Awards.
Member for Maitland and acting Shadow Minister for Women Jenny Aitchison is encouraging local women to nominate for the local and statewide awards.
The local MP award will see one Maitland woman rewarded for her outstanding work in our community.
Slow Food Hunter Valley leader Amorelle Dempster was awarded Maitland’s 2018 Local Woman of the Year awarded for her tireless efforts to encourage local fresh food production as well as providing support for the homeless and disadvantaged.
Public nominations are open until Sunday November 11th for the seven categories of the statewide awards.
They include Aboriginal Woman of the Year, Regional Woman of the Year, Young Woman of the Year, the Lifetime Achievement and Community Hero Awards.
The statewide award presentation will be at the Sydney International Convention Centre in March next year on the eve of International Women’s Day.
“We have a lot of quiet achievers who give selflessly to our community so I would like see these women recognised through these awards.”
“As I make my way across Maitland I am often inspired by the women I meet who go above and beyond to make a difference.”
“There are seven categories for the State awards and I believe Maitland has worthy nominees that we should put forward to recognise their contributions to our community and the State.”
