Media Release - Last #DignityDrive of the Year

07 August 2018

Member for Maitland and Shadow Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and Acting Shadow Minister for Women, Jenny Aitchison, has again pledged her support for Share the Dignity’s annual August #DiginityDrive.
The Drive along with Share the Dignity’s other initiatives such as #itsinthebag ensures the organisation is able to continue to supply free sanitary products to over 85,000 homeless women in Australia.
To date, Share the Dignity has collected over 1.2 million packets of pads and tampons with the help of the wider community. Despite collecting over 200,000 packets as part of the April Drive, warehouses are empty and charities are crying out for more. Last year over 175,000 women reached out to homelessness services and that number continues to grow.
The Maitland Community are encouraged to drop off their donations of sanitary items during the month of August to Ms Aitchison’s temporary electorate office located at Maitland Serviced Offices (MSO), 3/12 Ken Tubman Drive. MSO is open from Monday thru to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
