Member for Maitland Jenny Aitchison MP is a proud supporter of the Share the Dignity Drive, an initiative to ensure all women have access to basic sanitary items.

Every day, there are homeless women and victims of family violence who cannot afford to purchase essential sanitary products like tampons and pads.

The Dignity Drive occurs in April and August each year, encouraging people to purchase these sanitary products and donate them to a collection point in their local area.

As Ms Aitchison is the Acting Shadow Minister for Women and the Shadow Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, she is particularly passionate about ensuring that vulnerable and at-risk women are supported through wonderful initiatives like this one.

Each year, Ms Aitchison participates in the Dignity Drive and the ‘It’s in the Bag campaign’ which occurs in November.

This week, Ms Aitchison was visited by Lori and Anthony Twaddell from Rutherford Technology High School who had taken the initiative and purchased nearly a dozen packages of sanitary products to donate towards the drive (photo below).

She applauded these young students for participating in the drive and helping out women who are in need.
