This year, community groups from across Maitland were finally eligible to apply for a share in $300,000 of Community Building Partnership grants. In previous years, the NSW Government provided $200,000 to the electorate of Maitland for Community Building Partnership grants despite providing $300,000 to many other electorates throughout NSW. After years of lobbying by the community and the Member for Maitland, Jenny Aitchison MP, the Government has finally committed to issuing the Maitland electorate with the full funding. The Community Building Partnership program funds community infrastructure projects that promote community cohesion, inclusion and participation. Successful projects will deliver positive social, environmental and recreational outcomes. This year’s successful projects include:

$41,505 for upgrading the music room at the Maitland PCYC to help youth at risk program participants.

$16,027 for improving the access to the East Maitland War Memorial & Rest Park Trust to allow our veterans to safely access the memorial.

$20,575 for replacing the existing band hall guttering and downpipes for the City of Maitland Pipes and Drums Inc.

$20,000 to upgrade the amenities and canteen buildings at Norm Chapman Oval at Rutherford.

$42,518 to supply and install a new switchboard, meter panel and consumer mains at Lorn Park Bowls Sports and Recreation Club.

$19,282 to build an awning to provide shelter and shade around the canteen at Fieldsend Oval in East Maitland.
